On December 1, Fan Yong, Ambassador to Botswana, attended the  All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese “Embrace China”  cultural show. About 1,000 people attended the show, including the  Minister of the President of Botswana, the Minister of International  Relations, the Minister of Labor and Domestic Affairs and other  dignitaries.

To  implement the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation  (FOCAC) and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), Ambassador Fan  said that the two sides will take the 50th anniversary of the  establishment of diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to  stimulate the enthusiasm of all sectors of the Chinese and  Botswana societies to participate in people to people exchanges and  cooperation, and to promote mutual understanding. The “Embrace China”  cultural show will greatly encourage the Chinese in Botswana and is of  great significance to enhance the friendship between China and Botswana.

On  behalf of the new government of Botswana, Minister of International  Relations Hon. Mr. Butale welcomed the artists’ visit to Botswana,  reiterating that Botswana will firmly adhere to the one-China principle  and looks forward to working with China to promote the continuous  development of the strategic partnership.

During the performance, Chinese and Botswana artists performed on the same stage, winning warm applause from the audience.
