Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Marriage Certificate, No Criminal Clearance, Academic Credentials and other documents issued by the Botswana government, or Power of Attorney, Affidavit and other documents, to be used in China and if required, shall be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy according to the following instructions.
Ⅰ.legalization Procedures
The documents shall be authenticated in consecutive order by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Botswana (Tel:3600843,3600736)and the Chinese Embassy.
Ⅱ.Documents Required
1.Please download, print double-sided and fill in the application form (see attachment 1). If the documents to be authenticated are death certificates, please fill in the special application form (see attachment 2).
2.The original documents which have been authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Botswana and photocopies.
3.The original passport or ID of the applicant and its photocopy.
4.Non-Botswana applicant should provide the original Botswana visa or Botswana residence permit and its photocopy.
5.If the legalization documents are submitted by an agent, the agent's valid ID and a photocopy are also required.
The applicant for marriage certificate legalization must be either one of the married couple.
The applicant for power of attorney legalization must be the one who writes the power of attorney.
The adult applicant for birth certificate legalization must be himself/herself; minors must apply through his/her parents.
The applicant for death certificate legalization must be the family member of the deceased and should provide proof of kinship.
The applicant for commercial document legalization must be the legal representative of the enterprise or organization.
For these above-mentioned legalization, if the legalization documents are submitted by an agent, the agent should provide a power of attorney signed or stamped by the applicant.
Ⅲ.Office hours, processing time and fees
The Consular Section of Chinese Embassy accepts legalization application from 9:00 to 12:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (closed on public holidays).Normal service takes two open days;express service takes one open day. For example, if you submit the documents to the embassy on Monday, for normal service, you can collect the documents on Friday; for express service, you can collect the documents on Wednesday.
Normal fee for one civil document is P280, for one commercial document is P550.
Express fee is P310 per document.
For urgent service with collection on the same day (for humanitarian needs only.), the applicant shall contact the embassy in advance, and submit medical reports, proofs of kinship to the embassy. The urgent service fee is P460.
