On October 14, 2021, the Award Ceremony of the 2021 China-Africa Video and Photo Competition was held online and offline. Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li attended and addressed the ceremony. Deputy Director of China International Publishing Group Gao Anming, co-organizer of the competition, some African countries' envoys to China and representatives of award-winning contestants attended the event.

Deng Li said that the video and photo competition has received enthusiastic attention and active participation from all walks of life in China and Africa since its launch in May this year. Among numerous entries, there are touching stories of solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, moving stories of the harmonious co-existence of Chinese and African cultures, and beautiful stories of Chinese and African people embracing tomorrow with joint hearts and hands. It is these minute stories that have converged into torrential momentum, propelling China-Africa friendly cooperation and filling us with confidence in the bright prospects of China-Africa relations. The Eighth Session of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will soon be held in Senegal, in which the comprehensive plan for China-Africa cooperation in the next three years and longer will be made. He hopes that all people will, as always, dedicate themselves to the cause of China-Africa friendship, and contribute new vigor to the success of the FOCAC session and the development of China-Africa relations.

The video and photo competition, which was launched on May 21 this year, received more than 2,500 entries from China and over 40 African countries, with a total of more than 40 million views online. The Grand Prize in the video group went to a Zimbabwean student in China for his work Love for Guqin, and in the photo group to a Chinese doctor working with a medical aid mission to Botswana for his work Guarding the Hope.
