On November 12, 2025, Ambassador Fan Yong met with the Chairman of the North West District Council, Hon. Itumeleng Kelebetseng.

Ambassador Fan briefed the latest development of China-Botswana relations and said that china is willing to deepen local and people-to-people exchanges so as to enhance mutual understanding.

Hon. Itumeleng Kelebetseng expressed gratitude for China's assistance and support in the development of the North West District. He hopes to promote the friendly cooperation with Chinese counterparts, and expand cooperation with China in areas such as education and tourism.
