On December 5, 2025, Ambassador to Botswana Fan Yong gave an interview to "The Atlas," a current affairs program on Botswana National Television (BTV).

Ambassador Fan highlighted the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the One-China Principle. He stated that the Plenary Session provided a scientific summary of China's development achievements during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and outlined a strategic blueprint for China's trajectory during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. He noted that this will have a far-reaching impact on China's development and provide further opportunities for the common prosperity of countries around the world, including Botswana.
He emphasized that the One-China Principle is the core principle of China's foreign policy. Looking back on the 50-year history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, China appreciates Botswana's consistent adherence to the One-China Principle and its support for China's national reunification.
Ambassador Fan also answered questions from the host regarding the achievements of pragmatic cooperation over the 50 years of diplomatic relations, the alignment of national development strategies, trade facilitation between China and Botswana, and China's support for Botswana's digital transformation.
