On August 28, the opening ceremony of "2025 Botswana Chinese Film Festival" was successfully held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Ambassador Fan Yong attended the event and delivered an opening remarks. Nearly 200 people were in attendance, including senior officials such as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Botswana and the Chairman of the Ntlo ya Dikgosi, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from various sectors, as well as representatives of Chinese communities and organizations.

In his speech, Ambassador Fan stated that in the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana, the bilateral relationship has achieved significant development, and people-to-people exchanges have played a crucial role as a bond in promoting friendship. He expressed his hope that the film festival would help friends from all sectors in Botswana better understand a diverse, comprehensive, and multi-dimensional China.

This film festival is one of the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Botswana diplomatic relations. The films to be screened include recent outstanding Chinese works such as "The Wandering Earth 2", "My Country, My Parents", and "Chang'an San Wan Li".
