On October 16, 2025, Minister Counsellor Ms. Tao Lili paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the North West District Council, Hon. Itumeleng Kelebetseng in Maun.

Ms. Tao emphasized the importance of local partnerships in enhancing people-to-people exchange. Maun is the gateway to the famous Okavango Delta. The Chinese Embassy is willing to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to deepen local exchanges and strengthen cooperation in fields such as tourism.

Hon. Itumeleng Kelebetseng expressed gratitude for China's assistance and support in the development of the North West District. He hopes to promote the establishment of partnership between the North West District and Chinese counterparts, and expand practical cooperation with China in areas such as manufacturing, education and tourism.
