On June 6th, “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Show for Botswana Primary School Students 2025 was held at the University of Botswana. Counsellor Cui Yin, spouse of the Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, attended and delivered a speech. More than 100 people, including Prof. Richard Tabulawa, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UB, Directors of CIUB and representative of Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education attended the event.
Counsellor Cui Yin congratulated the young contestants who made it to the finals. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education for its valuable support and to relevant schools such as University of Botswana, Legae English Medium School, Newton International School, Livingstone Kolobeng College for their contributions to Chinese language education. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana. Counsellor Cui encouraged the children to build a bridge connecting the people of the two countries by learning Chinese and jointly create the next wonderful 50th anniversary.
Professor Tabulawa delivered a speech, expressing his pride that Botswana's children have represented Botswana in China through learning Chinese. UB will continue to increase its investment in Chinese language education to cultivate more outstanding Chinese language talents.
Young contestants from different schools participated in this competition. Through fluent Chinese speeches and wonderful performances of traditional Chinese cultural talents, they expressed their love for Chinese culture and won the cheers and applause of the audience on the spot.
This event is hosted by Chinese Embassy in Botswana and organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana(CIUB).
