Charge d'Affaires a.i. of Chinese Embassy Mr. Wang Bangfu Attends the Hand-over Ceremony to Botswana Red Cross Society

On 7th December 2018, Mr. Wang Bangfu, Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Botswana attended the hand-over ceremony of 50 quality tents from Chinese Embassy to Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS). Hon. Kgosi Puso Gaborone, Chairman of NtloYa Dikgosi of Parliament of Botswana , Mr. Moagi Baleseng, Director of National Disaster Management Office in the Office of the President, Ms. Gositamag Khana Venson, the 1st Vice President of BRCS, Mr. Kutlwano Mukokomani, the Secretary General of BRCS and faculty members of the BRCS attended the ceremony.

 

   

 

In his remarks, Mr. Wang said that China and Botswana have shared weal and woe since the establishment of the diplomatic relations. There are always shining examples of the mutual support and assistance such as today's donation. He pointed out that as a firm and reliable development partner of Botswana, China is willing to provide humanitarian assistance to enhance capacity building in disaster relief for Botswana because this is a call of longstanding friendship between the two countries and two peoples. China looks forward to closer exchanges and cooperation with Botswana in the future in health, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief within the framework of FOCAC so as to contribute to stronger China-Botswana relations.

 

   

 

On behalf of the Botswana Red Cross Society, Ms. Venson and Mr. Mukokomani expressed their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for the support and assistance, and emphasized that the donation will help BRCS overcome the humanitarian challenges and enhance capacity building in disaster relief. They further said that BRCS hopes to maintain active cooperation with the Chinese side in the future and work hard to improve the living conditions of the vulnerables in the society.
