Chinese Embassy in Botswana Donates Anti-Pandemic Supplies to Botswana Red Cross Society

On 15th May 2020, Chinese Embassy in Botswana donated anti-pandemic supplies to Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS). H.E. Dr. Zhao Yanbo, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, Mr. Kutlwano Mukokomani, Secretary General of the BRCS and his faculty members attended the donating ceremony.

 

 

Ambassador Zhao expressed his commendation to BRCS workers and volunteers fighting at the front line of the COVID-19 response. He emphasized that China and Botswana are good brothers and good partners, and it is of special significance for the two countries to work together to fight against the pandemic. He said that as a firm and reliable partner of the BRCS, the Chinese Embassy hoped these medical supplies such as masks, goggles and protective suits could keep the BRCS staff safe in the field and contribute to Botswana’s prevention and control of the pandemic.

 

 

On behalf of the BRCS, Mr. Mukokomani expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for the support, and highlighted that the assistance will help the BRCS overcome the shortage of PPE and enhance the organization’s response capacity during the pandemic. He further mentioned that the 50 quality tents previously donated by the Embassy to the BRCS have already been used for vulnerable families in COVID-19 response. As the biggest humanitarian organization in Botswana, the BRCS will continue to work with the Chinese side until the final victory in the battle against the coronavirus.
