From December 5 to 6, 2016, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended at invitation the 3rd Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa held in Senegal on behalf of China. Special Representative Xu Jinghu addressed the forum and briefed on China's notions and measures of participating in peace and security affairs in Africa in a constructive manner, stressing that the Chinese side is willing to, based on the concept of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, combine Africa's willingness with China's capability, strengthen cooperation in peace and security with Africa and actively and constantly make new contributions to the cause of peace and security affairs in Africa.
During the forum, Special Representative Xu Jinghu met with President Macky Sall of Senegal, and conveyed President Xi Jinping's sincere greetings and best wishes to President Macky Sall. She said that in recent years, China and Senegal have witnessed rapid development of bilateral relations, gradually deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful outcomes from practical cooperation. This September, both heads of state met in Hangzhou and decided to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The Chinese side stands ready to, together with Senegal, actively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and constantly enrich the connotation of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a bid to better benefit the two peoples.
Macky Sall asked Special Representative Xu Jinghu to convey warm regards and friendly feelings to President Xi Jinping, and thanked the Chinese side for attending the forum and providing support for Senegal to host the event. Macky Sall said that Senegal-China relations have witnessed sound development. China has provided effective support and assistance to Senegal's economic and social development for a long time. Senegal-China cooperation conforms to the common interests of the two peoples. The country is willing to beef up cooperation with China in infrastructure construction, agriculture, sports, health, tourism and other areas, so as to actively push for new outcomes from Senegal-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Special Representative Xu Jinghu also gave an interview to local media in Senegal, and answered questions from journalists about China-Senegal relations and other topics.
