Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Attends AU High-Level Consultation on Security Issues in Somalia

On March 23, 2017, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu attended at invitation the African Union (AU) High-Level Consultation on Security Issues in Somalia held in the AU Headquarters. Special Representative Xu Jinghu addressed the meeting, expressing that she was pleased to see the new positive progress made in the peace and political affairs in Somalia and appreciated the contributions made by the AU and relevant regions and counties in advancing the security and stability of Somalia. She also introduced China's constructive participation in the peace process in Somalia, calling for more attention and support to Somalia from the international community, as well as the unremitting efforts to the long-lasting peace, stability and development in Somalia.

This high-level consultation was held by the AU on the theme of Looking into the Future of the African Union Mission in Somalia, and Supporting the Security Mechanism Reform in Somalia. . Representatives from China, the UK, the US, France, and Russian, as well as the international and regional organizations including the UN, the EU and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development attended the consultation.
